SOTTO-Nepal Celebrates 18th Annual General Meeting and Annual Picnic


KATHMANDU, NEPAL – The Society of Travel and Tour Operators Nepal (SOTTO-Nepal) successfully concluded its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and annual picnic on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The event, held at the Royal Tulip Kathmandu near Shivapuri National Park, brought together industry leaders, stakeholders, and active members to reflect on a year of resilience and growth.

Highlights of the AGM

The formal session of the AGM followed a comprehensive schedule, beginning with member registration and breakfast, followed by the national anthem and a moment of silence. Key highlights from the official proceedings included:

  • Progress Reports: The General Secretary and Treasurer presented detailed reports on the organization’s activities and financial health over the past year.

  • Policy Discussions: Members engaged in vital discussions regarding the appointment of auditors and remuneration.

  • Industry Advocacy: The General Secretary’s report emphasized SOTTO-Nepal’s active role in lobbying against the implementation of VAT on the tourism sector, which has impacted international competitiveness.

  • Global Challenges: The assembly discussed the recovery of the tourism industry following the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent impacts of global geopolitical tensions on flight operations and foreign exchange.

Expanding the Network

A significant moment of the event was the official welcoming of 15 new member agencies into the SOTTO-Nepal family. These included:

  1. Let’s Go Tours and Travels

  2. Zeta Tours and Travels

  3. Zeotale Travels and Tours … and 12 other prominent travel firms, signaling a growing and united front for the Nepali travel industry.

Successful Outreach and Collaboration

The report also highlighted successful international initiatives, such as the Business to Business (B2B) Sales Mission held in Kolkata, India, in January 2026. This event, organized in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and supported by Buddha Air, saw participation from over 140 Indian travel entrepreneurs, strengthening cross-border tourism ties.

A Day of Community

Following the formal conclusion of the meeting at noon, members transitioned to the annual “Banbhoj” (Picnic). The social gathering provided a much-needed platform for networking and camaraderie among travel professionals in the serene environment of Shivapuri.
