31st Cargo Day to be Celebrated in Kathmandu on July 29: Focus on Logistics Development

Kathmandu, July 22 – The Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) is all set to celebrate the 31st Cargo Day on July 29, 2025 (Shrawan 13) at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Kathmandu. This year’s event will be held under the theme “Logistics Development and BBIN Connectivity”, in collaboration with the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board, various airlines, port authorities, banks, and other business stakeholders.

Speaking at a press conference held in Kathmandu, NEFFA’s Senior Vice President and Coordinator of the 31st Cargo Day, Mr. Naresh Kumar Agrawal, highlighted the growing significance of the event. Initially started as a platform to strengthen fellowship and unity among NEFFA members, Cargo Day has now evolved into a strategic forum to deliberate on the challenges, prospects, and policy needs of Nepal’s freight and logistics sector.

Mr. Agrawal emphasized the importance of a strong logistics system in a landlocked country like Nepal, stating, “An efficient logistics system reduces production costs, ensures timely import-export operations, and enhances economic competitiveness.”

The event will be conducted in three sessions:

  1. Inaugural Session and NEFFA Annual Awards 2025 – Recognizing outstanding contributions in the Nepali logistics sector, the awards will be presented to NEFFA members, private and public sector stakeholders, airlines, dry port operators, long-serving employees, and outstanding industry associations. Tokens of appreciation will also be presented to institutions that have supported the success of the event.

  2. Panel Discussion on “Logistics Development and BBIN Connectivity” – This session will feature high-level participation from government ministries, departments and boards, ADB Nepal Mission, airline and shipping companies, the private sector, and international stakeholders. Key issues to be discussed include the current state of Nepal’s logistics infrastructure, BBIN (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal) connectivity opportunities, policy coordination, trade facilitation, and expansion of transit routes.

  3. Fellowship and Trade Meet – The closing session will offer networking opportunities, paper presentations, and a documentary showcase involving national and international logistics professionals from both public and private sectors.

According to the organizers, Cargo Day plays a vital role in connecting Nepal’s logistics sector with modern technology, amplifying the voices of stakeholders in policy processes, and enhancing the overall efficiency of supply chain management.

“This is not just a celebration, but a shared platform to build dialogues from policy to implementation,” said Mr. Agrawal.

Highlighting the need for solid government policies and investment in logistics infrastructure, the organizers stressed that a robust logistics system is crucial to enable Nepalese businesses to compete in the international market.

The event will see significant participation from representatives of commerce, industry, tourism, banking, insurance, technology, manufacturing, and transportation sectors. Organizers are optimistic that Cargo Day will further strengthen Nepal’s position in the global logistics network.
