Rs. 15 Lakh$ Compensation for Fallen GenZ Victims as Government Declares Continuous Support

Kathmandu: The government has stepped up its relief efforts for those affected by the recent GenZ protests, releasing Rs. 4.58 million in emergency financial aid for the injured. Each injured individual is receiving Rs. 20,000 as immediate relief, with funds already distributed in nine districts, including major hubs like Kathmandu, Jhapa, Morang, and Kailali.

In a concerted effort to ensure continuous care, designated hospitals have established “GenZ clinics” offering free medical treatment and transportation facilities for follow-up care. The financial commitment to healthcare for the injured has already surpassed Rs. 1 billion, highlighting the severity of the casualties during the protests.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed officials to maintain uninterrupted support for all injured persons.

Furthermore, the government has provided a compensation of Rs. 15 lakh (Rs. 1.5 million) to the families of 53 identified victims of the protests, with arrangements currently underway for the remaining four families.

In a move to honor the lives lost, the government previously declared a national day of mourning and announced plans for the construction of a dedicated GenZ Memorial Park in Kathmandu. The park is intended to serve as a lasting tribute to the victims of the nationwide movement.
